Computer Brightness and its impact on Power consumption and reduction of carbon footprint.

In this project, the option of computer and its monitor was considered as a device for power saving because computers are one of the most widely prevalent gadgets in the current day society and specifically, they are extensively used throughout the country.
​
The novelty of the proposed method is that it allows a very easy way of gaining considerable power savings just by optimizing the brightness settings of the monitors. There is absolutely no requirement of any new investments or any other additional expenses. It offers a power saving potential of 30-40 watts by changing over to Eco option in LCD projectors and about 3-5 watts in computer monitors by just optimizing the brightness!

Considering the growth of computers in the world, Gartner Report predicts that it is expected to reach 2 billion PCs by 2016. We feel that our method being an effective, easy and zero investment approach can positively impact our society. It can directly aid the government in meeting its growing challenges in power management. Also, it contributes in protecting the environment by reducing a large amount of carbon footprint.

We have been actively approaching various organizations and conducted demonstrations. By now, we have covered different sectors like Power, Education, Transport, IT etc. Also, we are in the process of covering the various Govt. organizations like Power Company of Karnataka, Indian Railways, etc. In addition, the IT companies such as Infosys, Mindtree, Edurite, Praxair, Nokia Siemens, Nasscom, Transact etc. are being contacted.
